Lantek Flex3d Bending is a part of the Lantek Flex3d family of products able to generate unfolding, bending sequence, and real time simulation of a part from its 3D design. The result is a numerical control programme which bends the part when sent to the machine.

Lantek Flex3d Bending is a stand-alone application and no additional software is needed operate it.

 

Technical characteristics

  • Wireframe or solid design of the part in 3D.
  • Lantek Flex3d Bending provides a simulation of the bending process, allowing the user to configure all elements required to be viewed: the stops, the tools, the machine and the sheet.
  • Lantek Flex3d Bending permits the import and export of 2D and 3D CAD/CAM data from numerous systems:
    • Intelligent import / export of SAT 3D files with recognition of all information as regards bending the part, thickness, bend lines, radius, angle...
    • Import / export of IGES 3D files (solids).
    • Import / export of DXF 3D files.
    • Import of DXF 2D files recognising bending information (angle, radius, bend allowance, etc...)
  • Lantek Flex3d Bending automatically generates the bending of the part, whether previously imported or designed on the system itself.
  • The system allows partial bending of any of the faces of the part.
  • With Flex3d Bending automatic cutaways can be created for unfolding.
  • The unfolding may be automatically transferred to DXF with bending information, or any CAM punching and cutting system.

 

Generation of the bending sequence

  • Generation of the automatic bending sequence. The system calculates the optimum sequence in accordance with a series of parameters chosen and prioritised by the user.
  • Starting from a 2D geometry, Lantek Flex3d Bending allows the user to create the logical bending sequence for the part:
    • If the 2D geometry contains all the necessary information for bending, the user only has to indicate to the system the ordered sequence of steps.
    • If the starting 2D geometry does not contain the information on the bending of the part, the user must indicate the radius and angle of the bend for each bending line.
  • Lantek Flex3d Bending generates as output the numerical control code which must be sent to the bending machine in order for the part to be correctly bent. With this application the CNC code generated can be viewed and edited.

 

Simulation of the bending sequence

  • Lantek Flex3d Bending allows for the bending sequence to be simulated with the complete configuration of the machine in three dimensions (stops, tools, the part and the machine).
  • The tools can be pre-selected from the list of tools provided for this system, based on part data such as thickness, minimum bending angle...
  • Lantek Flex3d Bending provides automatic tool configuration in accordance with the part to be bent:
    • The system automatically calculates the minimum number of tools needed to bend the part and shows their position on the bender.
    • The positioning distances between tools on the machine can be automatically anticipated.
  • The parameters of the different tools can be stored in the tool data base.
  • With Lantek Flex3d Bending the different tools can be defined by the user, taking DXF geometry as a basis.
  • Different possibilities of positioning the stops for flat and inclined faces.
  • The application allows for various faces to be bent at the same time (Multi-bend) and includes functionalities for bending of faces to 180º (Hemming bends).
  • Lantek Flex3d Bending allows for detection and viewing of collisions during the bending simulation. Checking for part / tool and part / machine collisions.
  • The application calculates an automatic estimation of the times needed for bending a part.

Lantek Flex3d Bending uses ACIS® technology as a base for solids creation.
